We have noticed the children's growing interest in music at the moment.  The musical instruments are always available for the children, recently however the children have been putting on concerts, and signing songs from the radio.  

 We would love to hear what your families favourite music/song is.  Is there a particular song that gets everyone in the car singing along?  

 Justin Beiber is proving to be a favourite among the children! 

The Garden!

The children have shown great care and responsibility for the centre's vegetable garden.  Because of their care, attention and love, the plants have thrived and we now have an abundance of lettuce, mint, rosemary, and spring onions that the children have been enjoying in their lunch time meals.   

 Gardening has the opportunity for children to take responsibility for the environment.  Through their care and attention the children have discovered the positive outcome of caring for their environment.  

The Garden has also created the potential for a wide range of hands on experiences for the children; including watering, fertilizing, worm farming, harvesting and cooking.  Gardening has been a great way to approach sustainability education, and has created a strong opening to take this education further.  

 Do any families grow their own vegetables at home? we would really appreciate some photo's of home gardens and families gardening experiences. 

This is our dream garden! A Goal for the year to come. 

Good Morning :)

The focus of the centre recently has involved everything healthy! healthy food choices and exercise.  The children have participated in a sports day, gardening, process cooking, and a bike-a-thon. 
 

To extend on this focus we would love to get together a recipe book for all the families; for this we would need your families healthy and most loved recipe.

Would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for this recipe book.

Maybe we could even make some of the recipes with the children.

Kia Ora Whanau!

We have had some positive feedback from families about the children being able to connect with families that live in another country.  This has prompted the centre to explore and celebrate all of the different cultures that make up our centre community over the next month.  If you have any idea's about what the children can do for your culture please comment!! we always enjoy and value your contributions to the programme and planning. 

Why a blog?

The world today has become a digital one.  Children are showing their interest in online tools and games that we have offered within the centre.  Many of the children also take their profile books home on a regular basis to share with their families.  So after discussion with the children, staff and parents we thought that a blog was the best a most effective way to extend on both of these interests.  The children will be encouraged to share experiences and adventures on the blog.

Posting comments is an awesome way to encourage children, and share in their learning and development.  A comment from a family member can also provide information for the teaching team to extend on a interest that we would have otherwise not known about :)

Connect Kidz

Kia Ora Whanau! 

Welcome to the Connect Kidz Blog spot.  

This is an interactive blog that will enable the children and teachers to share the learning and exploration that happens within the centre on a regular basis.  Many of our children have whanau in other parts of the country and event the world! This blog was created with the aspiration of providing a space for children to connect with their whanau (whether they're at work, across town, or the other side of the world!)

This is our first attempt at blogging so would love any feedback or suggestions!
